Warwick Archdeaconry Report - 2016
In 2016 we began a series of featured practices hoping to get across the whole district in this way.
Featured practices were held at:
Alveston, Cherington, Claverdon, Coughton, Cubbington, Harbury, Henley, Kineton, Leamington, Lighthorne & Napton.
The District AGM was at Lillington where our new District Treasurer, George Wrycroft was formally elected.
Our outing in May was to Oxfordshire where low numbers did not detract from the enjoyment of those present. A beautiful sunny day finished in torrential rain but we visited some very interesting churches including Charlbury, which had rearranged its worship so that the altar was at the base of the bell tower.
Quarter peals for the Queens’s 90th birthday celebrations were rung in 44 of the District towers. Thanks to everyone who played their part.
We hosted the Guild’s summer social with a tour of our southern towers including Whichford, Great Wolford and Long Compton. At Great Wolford a number of certificates for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebration quarters were presented.
Many thanks to all the towers which have made us so welcome this year and especial congratulations to those who have rung their first peal this year.
